And the prices, I forgot to mention are very reasonable. The stuffed peppers are delicously dangerous untoo themselves. It was so good, you could make a meal with just that. They serve an appetizer quesadilla with a portobello mushroom, pepper blend? Wow, watch out. Probably best to call and ask for a reservation on a less busy night if you're after an intimate moment. Off hours or slower nights seem better for a quiet night, at least that's what we've found. The place is not large, so it can get a bit crowded. The staff is upbeat, very friendly, even if it does seem busy sometimes.still, everything came quickly, the food has been consistently great- if not excellent. Cheryl won't give up here recipes, but has some great tips. The owners have been there when we were there, lucky me. I am on good information that the owner prepares some (or all) of the mole's from scratch. What they do here is something, different. I'd say, if you want "traditional" Mexican food or what they call "traditional" here, go around the corner. Even huit la coche tamales (hope I spelled that write)- never had those anywhere else before. it is so tender, but still moist and steaky. The Calarami Durango or Tostada- OMG- only problem, I can't eat it anywhere else now. We don't eat meat, but they accommodate with Delicious Seafood (fresh fish, shrimp, calamari), even a tofu mix that you'd swear might be ground beef. I swear, the XX tastes better on tap than out of the six pack. with a great Tequila selection, Dox Equis on tap. If you want unique food with what I/we'd call South of the Border maybe Fusion flare. Hints: order an enchilada each time you go, alternating the sauces until you have tried them all go with lots of friends and order all their tapas and eat Chinese-style they have a full bar though it is not well known and finally, order dessert. Ordering one or two tapas is perfect for lunch. which are a fusion of modern cuisines and traditional Mexican/Spanish cuisines. I tell all my friends to go in on Monday or Tuesday so you can have their Tapas.
it reminds me of Colonial Mexican food, like you would find in Oaxaca, Morelia, Puebla. paired with similarly cooked, chicken or pork (they have other meats and fish too, of course. home made like sauces that have cooked for hours and hours. I love to eat at the bar, to feel like a "regular".
Mexican music always in the back ground, great decor, and soft lighting. though discovered! I have been eating here for over.
